Welcome to King of Glory!

King of Glory is a mission parish of the Reformed Episcopal Church in the United States (REC).    The church began as an extension work of the REC, with four families who desired to plant an orthodox and traditional Anglican congregation in the Fargo-Moorhead area.  The congregation held its first service of Morning Prayer, led by licensed layreaders, during Advent 1999.  The parish held its first service of Holy Communion in January 2000, in conjunction with an episcopal visit from The Rt. Rev.  Royal U. Grote, Jr., bishop ordinary of the Diocese of Mid-America, the Reformed Episcopal Church.  In April 2000, the Rev. Michael Blitz was assigned vicar of the parish, and served the congregation until October 2002.

During that time, King of Glory added three families to its roster, and was officially recognized as a mission parish of the REC.  In November 2002, the Rev. W. J. Holston, a parishioner at King of Glory, was ordained a permanent deacon in the Reformed Episcopal Church, and assigned vicar of the parish by Bishop Grote.  King of Glory has received bi-monthly and monthly visits from the Rt. Rev. George B. Fincke, an assistant bishop in the Diocese of Mid-America.  On Easter Day 2004, Bishop Fincke accepted assignment as vicar of King of Glory.  He, his wife Ann, and three of his four children are moving to the Fargo-Moorhead area, and he will take up his pastoral ministry at King of Glory at the end of summer 2004.
